Whether I’m watching a sunrise over the Grand Canyon or enjoying a backcountry hike in Yellowstone, these are the moments I feel a deep connection and appreciation for the solace and peace that are found in nature’s backyard. Nothing melts away the stress and worry of this chaotic world like hike through the woods. These are the moments I feel inspired to pick up my camera and bring these memories home.
I primarily work in landscape photography because it allows me to explore our beautiful world and experiment with light and color. Over the past five years, I travelled to three of our most treasured parks to create the National Park Collection. Each park has its own unique qualities and terrain.
The beautiful and majestic Grand Canyon can only truly be appreciated in person. There’s the ever-changing unique world of Yellowstone with its hot springs, geysers and unique terrain. And finally, there’s the majestic snow-covered jagged peaks of Teton Mountains.
Capturing large spaces like the Grand Canyon can be a challenge so I love to use I a wide-angle lens or a fisheye lens to create an interesting perspective. Editing of each photograph is limited to retain the natural look and feel of when the photograph was taken. Each photograph is personally printed and mounted in my studio with the utmost care. All of the equipment used to edit and print is calibrated to highest standards to create the most authentic photographs. Possible. Only high-quality museum grade paper is used to provide the most vivid and rich photographs. Matting is also museum quality grade to reduce the risk of damaging the print.
My photographs contain dynamic and static natural elements that, with time, evolves and are transformed. I invite the viewer to make this connection with nature and to observe that our world isn’t stationary. Everything changes, everything passes.
